oceanofmind: “In certain extreme situations, it may still be impossible for you to accept the Now. But you always get a second chance at surrender. Your first chance is to surrender each moment to the reality of that moment. Knowing that what is cannot be undone — because it already is — you say yes to what is or accept what isn’t. Then you do what you have to do, whatever the situation...

to swallow the stars
one day, i will set fire to this body, but it will not burn, for there is something brighter and more lovely than the ashes of my bones, and tonight, those words are written in the hand of the dipper,       the face of the lion,             the tail of the scorpion, strapped to the ceiling above a shattering planet. but when skies turn to oceans and oceans to skies, and Venus ignites in the hills...

“The word enlightenment conjures up the idea of some super human accomplishment, and the ego likes to keep it that way, but it is simply your natural state of felt oneness with Being. It is a state of connectedness with something immeasurable and indestructible, something that, almost paradoxically, is essentially you and yet is much greater than you. It is finding your true nature beyond...

Excerpt from Siddhartha
Gradually there blossomed, gradually there ripened within Siddhartha the realization, the knowledge, of what wisdom really was, what the goal of his long quest was. It was nothing but a preparedness of the soul, a capability, a secret art of conceiving the idea of oneness at every moment, in the midst of life’s activities: the ability to feel and absorb oneness. This blossomed within him...

Siddhartha: Do you call yourself one who seeks, O venerable one, although you are already well advanced in years and you wear the robe of Gotama's monks?
Govinda: To be sure, I am old... but I have never ceased to seek. I shall never cease to seek; that seems to be my destiny. You, too, I believe, have sought. Will you tell me anything about it, honored sir?
Siddhartha: What could I possibly have to tell you, venerable one? Perhaps that you are doing too much seeking? That your seeking prevents you from finding?
Govinda: How is that?
Siddhartha: When someone seeks, it is all too easy for his eyes to see nothing but the thing he seeks, so that he is unable to find anything or absorb anything because he is always thinking exclusively about what he seeks, because he has a goal, because he is obsessed by that goal. Seeking means having a goal. But finding means being free, remaining accessible, having no goal. You, venerable one, are perhaps really one who seeks, because, pressing after your goal, you fail to see many a thing that is right before you eyes.
